Building the Foundations of Effective Therapeutic Exercises: How Training for Biotensegrity First is Key
This wet lab provides a unique blend of biomechanics, learning theory, and practical handling. Designed for canine professionals, this masterclass shifts the paradigm from isolated muscle strengthening to whole-body tension integrity (biotensegrity). Participants begin with a one-hour theory session analysing functional canine biomechanics, conformation-specific injury risks, and the principles of how dogs learn. This foundational knowledge directly informs safe exercise prescription and the proactive identification of fatigue. The subsequent three-hour practical session focuses on hands-on application and clinical reasoning. Attendees will master static and dynamic postural analysis to detect subtle movement dysfunctions. Through targeted skill-building, participants learn to utilize choice-based cooperation, skilled shaping, and positive reinforcement to dramatically reduce canine stress while boosting engagement from the dogs and clients. Practical exercises include foot targeting, advanced cueing, and therapeutic handling techniques that stimulate correct muscular activation and deep stabilization. Finally, the workshop covers exercise progressions and client empowerment strategies, ensuring owners can accurately identify "good form" at home to maintain stellar compliance and optimize long-term rehabilitation outcomes.
